Setting up Directv for mobile R.V. use

Directv for mobile use is very easy with standard defition recievers and programming. high defition however is a whole different problem, the standard defition satellite is on the 101 in our area of the northwest and that one satellite will get all the programming you need. the High Definition satellites are the 99 and 103 which are recieved with the 101 on a much larger satellite dish called the slimline. this satellite dish has a larger mast or pole requirement and does not fit on the standard tri pod. the bigger obsticle with high definintion is getting the adequate signal off the 99 and 103. these satellites are a different and narrow satelite beam that requires the fine tuning screws to peak the exact signal quality. not at all a  user friendly setup. i have no experience with the auto tune roof mount setup and its ability to peek signal on the directv hd signals. i have heard good things about this setup and have seen its counterpart in action with dish. it was impressive but at a price, 1600 to 2000 plus installation.

the video will include a quick look at a slimline and why i dont recommend high defition  with direct. the 101 on a single sat is very easy but requires one line to each reciever, and another recomendation is using one tv or mirroring one tv.

the 101 satellite is at 133 azimuth and 33 elevation with no skew.

to get to the point dish screen with directv you will need to select menu -system setup -satellite-signal strength this will give you real time signal quality and we are going to look for something between 90 and 96%
